I just purchased a hydro 4110 and am looking to get a 3 point finish mower. Can it handle a 6' or is 5' more suitable for the pto hp (17)?

A typical strategy is to buy implements that just cover the rear tire tracks, and then the power is usually about right. Most implement manufacturers publish recommended HP ranges, which are good specs to refer to, but the manufacturer recommendations tend to be a bit conservative. Often a wider than recommended implement can be operated OK by going slower, taking smaller bites etc. However, as a general rule I think it's good to come up with a very specific reason for wanting an implement that's a step wider than the tire tracks--which probably is 5' for a 4110.
Just as a way of thinking about this, I'll raise a question why would a person want a 6' mower if their tires only track 5'? A wider mower takes more time to maneuver and more space to turn around and maybe leaves more trimming as well. In terms of mowing a square acre field, a 1' wider mower doesn't save that much time either. A square acre is 208' a side. It would take a 5' mower about 41 passes to mow the acre and 35 passes for a 6' mower (not allowing for row overlap or turnaround). So, a difference of 6 passes of 208' each is 1250 feet, which is going to take about 5-minutes longer at ground speeds around 5 mph.
I think I've got the basic idea right although the arithmetic is seriously rounded and is only an illustration. The point is that a wider than necessary implement may be more difficult for a tractor to handle and may not save much time either.

Thanks for the info on the size of the finish mower. It makes sense the way you explained it. I have about 4.5 acres to cut and I guess I wanted to be able to take as big a cut as possible. I suppose with a 5' I could go faster with ground speed also. ....

One thing about a wider mower is that the overhang works well in certain situations. Near drop offs is a good place, I don't like to get too close to an edge so the overhang helps. Underbushes, fence lines.. ....

TC mentions something that I would consider as a specific reason for having a larger implement. We have a an ‘unwalkably’ steep grade at the back of our property, we leave the bank verge in bush, but even so I don't like driving the tractor close to the edge. Plenty of tree roots holding things together, but the bank potentially could give way--especially with all the rain we've been getting. However, we mow with a riding mower so weight on the edge isn't much of an issue. If I mowed with the tractor, I’d want to star as far from the bank as possible.
I do have a 6' box scraper for my 5' track tractor--well I guess it does track slightly wider than 5' due to the turf tires (turfs can complicate implement buying sometimes). However, I have a specific reason for the wide. It cuts the right width side-grades to crown my drives. I have to accept that the extra width and tires slow down my working ground speed. Of yes, I'd also keep in mind that big PTO driven implements such as mowers are harder on PTO clutches than smaller implements.

I own a 4100 HST with the JD 261 rear-mount mower and mow
2 acres of grass with it. The rear acre of grass is pretty
nasty stuff that grows very quickly and sometimes reaches
the floorboards of my tractor. The tractor handles it no problem. I could not be happier and feel that this tractor
mower combination is a perfect match. It will even mow rocks ;-) ....
